Reconnect With Yourself. Strengthen Your Relationships. Create Meaningful Change.
Counselling for adults and couples who want to better understand themselves and build healthier, more connected relationships.
Meet Cindy
I’m Cindy Rendall, a Registered Social Worker and the founder of Untethered Heart Counselling. I believe healing happens through relationships—our relationship with ourselves, the people we love, and the stories we carry about who we are. When one part of that system changes, every relationship has the opportunity to change too.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I won’t tell you how to live your life or offer quick fixes. Instead, I’ll help you understand the patterns that have shaped you, recognize the strengths you already have, and discover new ways of responding that feel more authentic and aligned with the life you want to create.
I founded Untethered Heart Counselling because I believe healthy relationships begin with the relationship we have with ourselves. It’s a journey I continue to be on myself, and one I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside others as they reconnect with themselves and the people who matter most.
Where would you like to begin?
Every relationship tells a story. Together, we’ll begin with the one that feels most important to you right now.
Relationship with Yourself
Sometimes life leaves us feeling disconnected from ourselves. Together, we’ll explore the patterns that have shaped you so you can move forward with greater clarity, self-compassion, and intention.
Relationship with Your Partner
Whether you’re feeling disconnected, stuck in the same arguments, or wondering where your relationship is headed, couples counselling offers a space to better understand one another and move forward with greater clarity.
Parenting & Co-parenting
Parenting isn’t about having all the answers. Whether you’re raising young children, navigating adolescence, or learning to co-parent after separation, we’ll focus on creating healthier relationships for your family.
The Untethered Heart Approach
Healthy relationships begin with the relationship we have with ourselves.
Many of us spend years criticizing ourselves for the ways we think, feel, or respond. We wonder why we keep repeating the same patterns or why relationships can feel so difficult. But what if those reactions aren’t signs that something is wrong with you? What if they’re parts of you that developed to protect you?
We all have different parts of ourselves. There may be a part of you that longs for connection, while another part fears being hurt. One part may strive for perfection, while another feels exhausted from trying so hard. Rather than judging these parts, we’ll become curious about them with compassion, exploring how they came to be and what they need now.
Together, we’ll explore:
Your Story
Understanding how your life experiences have shaped the different parts of you and the beliefs you carry about yourself, others, and the world.
Your Nervous System
Learning how your body responds to stress, safety, and connection so you can better understand your emotions, reactions, and relationships.
Your Patterns
Recognizing the protective strategies that once helped you survive but may now be keeping you stuck, and discovering new ways of responding.
Your Relationships
Strengthening the relationship you have with yourself so you can create healthier, more connected relationships with the people who matter most.
Healing isn’t about becoming someone different. It’s about understanding yourself with greater compassion so you can respond with more choice, connect more authentically, and live with greater intention.

Frequently Asked Questions...
What if I don't know exactly what's wrong?
You don’t need to have everything figured out before coming to counselling. Many people come because they know something doesn’t feel quite right—they feel stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or simply want life or their relationships to feel different.
Counselling is a space to slow down, become curious, and make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. Together, we’ll explore what’s contributing to your struggles and identify the changes that will help you move forward.
How do I get started?
- Book online or contact me with questions.
- Complete intake paperwork.
- Come to your first session.
What should I expect in the first session?
Most people feel a little nervous about their first counselling session, which makes sense.
Upon booking your first session, you will receive a couple of emails from my JaneApp confirming your appointment time and a link to an intake/consent form. Completing your paperwork ahead of time allows me to review your concerns ahead of time and gives you time to reflect on consent. You will have an opportunity in the first session to review any concerns or questions. Consent is a way for us to understand the agreements that help us get off to a good start.
Our first session is really my opportunity to get to know you a bit and your reasons for coming to counselling at this time. It also gives you the opportunity to get a sense of who I am.
I like to think of our first session as more of a conversation where I ask more questions and you talk more. It might seem like our conversation is all over the place and that is ok, as it sets the foundation for the work we will do. I find that everything connects, so don’t worry!
How can I make the most out of counselling?
There are no “perfect” clients. You don’t need to have the right words or all the answers. What makes the biggest difference is showing up with three intentions:
Be curious.
Curiosity opens the door to understanding yourself and the patterns that have shaped you.
Be compassionate.
Real change happens when we replace self-judgment with kindness and understanding.
Be engaged.
Healing doesn’t happen only during our sessions. The insights you gain become meaningful as you begin to notice them in everyday life.
How many sessions will I need? How often?
There is no set number of sessions. The number of sessions depends on you, your concerns and your goals for counselling, as well as your means to afford counselling. Your number of sessions may be limited by health insurance coverage or by the subsidy provider and we can work together to make the most of the number of sessions you have. On average, clients attend 5-10 sessions with some attending fewer and some attending much longer. More complex issues tend to require more sessions.
Clients most often attend bi-weekly depending on needs and preferences. Counselling is your investment in yourself and your relationships, so the more regularly and consistently you invest the greater your results.
How much does it cost?
Individual and couples counselling is $150 per 60-minute session. I believe counselling should be as accessible as possible, which is why I have chosen not to increase my rate.
Can I use my work benefits and/or health insurance?
✔ Registered Social Workers are covered by most extended health benefit plans.
✔ I can direct bill many companies, including:
- Alberta Blue Cross
- Medavie Blue Cross
- Canada Life
- Sun Life
- Greenshield Insurance
- most eTelus Health providers
✔ If direct billing isn’t available, I’ll provide a receipt for reimbursement.
Are there any low cost ways to access counselling?
I’m committed to making counselling as accessible as possible. Depending on your circumstances, you may qualify for one of the following subsidies…
Family Centre: offers a subsidy for families with a child under the age of 18. It is based on net income and family size. You can ask me directly about this subsidy or call Family Centre for more information at (403) 320-4232 ext. 204.
City of Lethbridge Integrated Coordinated Access: offers a subsidy for Lethbridge residents based on net income and family size. There is an application to be submitted prior to counselling. Please contact me for more details.
Breaking Free Foundation: I am an approved provider for this foundation that can provide a grant for trauma therapy for anyone in Alberta. An application is required.
