Are you wondering if your relationship can survive…the betrayal, the conflict or the increasing disconnection?

Maybe you are wondering if separation is the answer or if you should just hold on until the kids are older or the mortgage is paid off or you get to retirement. You may be finding yourself in constant conflict with your partner over the smallest of things or you may find yourself becoming increasingly distant from them, living more like roommates than lovers. Perhaps you’re feeling like there’s no hope for this relationship and you would be better off apart.

Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:

  • Struggling to connect with your partner
  • Feeling disconnected and on your own
  • Uncertain and confused about what to do next
  • Stress from your relationship impacting other areas of your life (children, work, family)

Couples Counselling can help!

It may feel impossible now, but you can transform your relationship with your partner. You can create a more connected, understanding and supportive relationship. You can learn how to have each other’s backs and create a life you both want. I can help you get there.

Couples counselling helps you do 4 things:

  • Understand your own and your partner’s relational history & patterns (yes, back to childhood)
  • Learn about caring for your nervous system and your partner’s (also applies to your children and others in your life)
  • Communicate differently to reduce conflict, increase safety and connection and meet your needs
  • Create a vision for what you want from your relationship

I’ll help you through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to couples counselling comes from a place of understanding how relationships work and what they need to flourish. You and your partner can move out of patterns that no longer serve you.

An unhappy relationship or separation/divorce doesn’t have to be your story.

I can help you get there.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are couples counselling sessions like?

In couples sessions, both individuals will have opportunities to share their own perspective and listen to their partner’s perspectives as well. Ultimately, for relationships to be successful there needs to be room for each person to have influence and for partners to work together for what is best for their relationship. We will explore what you want for your relationship, what gets in the way and helpful insights and strategies to get there. As your counsellor, I am on the side of your relationship and what it needs to be happy, healthy and meaningful.

Do you ever see couples individually?

This may happen on occasion for a limited number of sessions (1-3) if it serves the goals of couples counselling and both partners feel comfortable with it. If individuals require individual counselling, referrals can be made.

How long do we need to be in counselling?

This is based on your specific needs as a couple. We will work together to determine your goals and ways to meet those goals. Couples that spend time between counselling sessions working on their goals report more progress. 6-10 sessions can make a significant difference in your relationship.

How do I know if couples counselling will work for us?

There is no guarantee that couples counselling will work, as it requires a commitment from both partners to create a mutually satisfying relationship. I do know that if both partners are willing to work on the relationship you can find success and I can help you to do that through increasing your understanding and skills to create a meaningful relationship. Regardless of outcome, your experiences in couples counselling can help you in any of your relationships.
